Charcoal / Dextran stripping reduces the concentration of steroid hormones in serum such as estradiol, progesterone, cortisol, testosterone, T3 and T4. This serum is usefull where there endogenous molecules may interfere with experimental works. This serum may show some reduced growth promotion ability for cells requiring the presence of certain hormones.

活性炭FBS在体外各种体系用于激素影响的研究。包括类固醇受体连接，细胞受体类固醇调节，各种组织的激素分泌和甲状腺激素功能。生产程序包括使用碳和右旋糖苷从FBS中去除激素如:estradiol, progesterone, cortisol, testosterone, T3 and T4.
